What changed in the West population?
The region added 263,232 residents in the July 2024–2025 interval. Natural change was +190,002, calculated as 828,945 births minus 638,943 deaths. Published net domestic migration was -168,278 and net international migration was +239,654.
The source residual of +1,854 completes the change accounting: natural change plus net domestic migration plus net international migration plus residual equals +263,232. Domestic moves within the region cancel in its net total; the regional figure therefore differs from a sum of gross arrivals into every member state. These components do not establish why residents moved.
